Posters

Using a syringe is a good way to illustrate the films tittle also have a love heart at the end adds to the effect, the two pills also go with the tittle of the film. Keeping it simple the colour scheme is very good as it doesn't complicate anything, red is the colour of passion and love this gets across to the audience that the film is based around romance.

Similar to the one above this is also very simple using a simple colour scheme helps to keep the poster easy to  understand and appealing to the audience. The bright yellow and black make the poster easily noticeable, also using the yellow as the burning trail the car left behind makes the poster unique.

The poster shows a nut inside an ice cube this poster sums up the film with ease, it uses a key part of the film to illustrate it. The poster relates back to the film making it easily recognised, also the colour are not stand out colours but the combination catches the eye. Although the idea of a nut in an ice cube is unusual this makes this poster unique.
This poster uses the shape of a balloon to shape the text this choice is eye catching as  at first it looks like a balloon if you take a closer look it spells out the word  Up. This the choice of colour is good as the black stands out clearly over the blue sky. One fault is if a member of the public hadn't heard of the film you wouldn't guess this poster was for that movie. The choice of font although a good choice the P looks like an R  which could confuse some people apart from that the poster is good.

Catch me if you can is a film which involves a lot of flight travel, using a plane in the poster was a very good idea. The colour scheme is eye catching bright, simple, easily recognised. Using a plane taking off was a good way to illustrate the film.

This poster is incredibly simple the film is called the road and the poster is a road leading into the distance, keeping it this simple was very creative. The colour scheme is also simple, brown to represent the side of the road and grey to represent the road and sky. A fault is that it isn't very eye catching, no bad colours it might not interest someone to take another look

This poster uses red and black as the only colours this gives the poster a dark appearance, also the fact that the red is illustrated as blood tells the audience that the film is dark. The posters shows a perfume container with a woman's face init, this is a hidden clue and it would also intrigue the audience and make them want to watch it. The font is very simple and neatly done it doesn't crowd the poster at all which is good.

This poster shows a key part of the film, the maze, using this as a design makes it incredibly unique and also draws the audience in. The colour scheme also is eye catching as the shades of green compliment the golden outline of the maze. Placing the title of the movie vertically inside the opening of the maze could be seen as the designer illustrating the word inception in the film which is to implant an idea into the mind.

The design is very simple, the poster uses a collar to resemble the invincible man, i think this is a good idea
as the designer as resorted to the simplest design. The colour scheme also is simple a shade of light blue
and the font is a dark colour this could be seen as boring or eye catching because there is so little, maybe in this instance more is less.

The posters colour scheme is a slightly dark rouge and a not so potent gold, making the colours this dull can be good or bad. The dull colours make the white writing stand out but also this may effect the audience response as the lack of brightness  may not intrigue the audience. The use of the iron man mask on the poster is a good idea as people would recognise it easier people such as comic fans and people who are interested in comic book based films.

The colour scheme is incredibly simple it is just grey and black, the letters are bold and placed in the centre.
If you look carefully the letter K on the left looks like its about to fly kick the other  K, this idea works well with the film as it is a martial arts film... the poster illustrates the film well.

This poster makes it seem as if the audience is looking at a cupboard with a monster staring back at you, the choice to make the this way is good because a lot of people can relate to this. Children and adults would know instantly  what the film is about as almost everyone found the dark cupboard scary when they were younger because monsters may have been hiding in there. The colour scheme isn't amazing but the illustration fits the film.

The poster comes across as mysterious as the door in the poster in only partially open, this is associated with horror and scary things. The poster's colour scheme isn't very eyes catching the colours contrast but the poster is bait dull. I think this poster would get a lot of attention as it does seem interesting its like a partially open door.

This poster uses bent prison bars, this is a good idea because everyone knows what the bent bars mean, the poster is easy to relate to, the colour scheme is also dull but more interesting that the one above. The font isn't in the way but also it isn't really eye catching and i doubt the poster would draw people to it.

The poster uses the blue background to create the buildings and the outline of the setting sun in the horizon. The way the poster is design would draw people into it the right amount of dark and bright colours is used in this poster, making the buildings seem further away also makes spiderman look even higher up.

The poster uses parts of the movie in the design of the poster, one similarity is the mans position on the chair in the same as in the movie when they dunk the people in the dream state. A second similarity is the way the designer has connected the Title to the man in the chair the lines of connection are also used to connect the dreamers together in the film. This poster is instantly recognisable by the public. The colour scheme also work very well, the colours make the poster seem more exciting and very bold and attractive.

In the snow white the apple plays a big part in the fabric of the whole story so naturally an apple was used, red is a colour that instantly attracts the human eye therefor putting a strong doug colour in front of a white background is an excellent idea in this case it fits the story incredibly well. All in all the poster font and colour scheme as very well designed eye catching, bold, beautiful.

This poster fits the movie well, using the different colours that resemble the ninja turtles
The colour scheme is very eye catching as the different colours stand out. Although the poster works well
a lot  of space in-between the writing  and the turtle heads is unfilled, this could be a negative and positive thing, people could consider this poring and uncreative therefor not interested or be intrigued  and persuaded to watch the film.

This poster shows the shades worn by the terminator in the film The Terminator
using the shades makes the poster more attractive because of the choice of colours.. black and red
also the terminator is recognised for his choice of shades this would also attract the audience. The red is bright and the sunglasses black making the red seem more potent and eye catching.

This poster is one of my favourite posters because it captures the main event of the film very well, as a minimalist poster should, the poster is very simple but is eye catching. The font is white-ish greyish colour and the iceberg is placed at the centre of the poster which would draw the attention of the audience we'll.
I think the designer did a good job not to complicate it at all.

Demon Juice Poster

When i edited my picture i selected the brush and i coloured in the background, experimenting with the opacity to create the best effect. I then altered the contrast to make the skin look a lot more frightening and unhealthy. Then i coloured the eyes in with the brush using different tones of red and black to make the eyes fit in with the title in mind. I then selected the font "Living Hell" and titled my poster Demon Juice.
Overall the green layer on the skin adds a nice effect to the poster.

Which company uses the logo? Footlocker

Who is the target audience for the logo? Footlocker targets shopper, people who shop for footwear, bikers, boxers, tennis player and so on. The logo uses a man dressed as a referee which instantly bring the audience to think of sport and shoes.

How does the logo relate to the company? Being called Footlocker gives the shop an added advantage as the name instantly represents there purpose as a shop.

Is it effective? Yes the logo attracts many members of the public, young old, they
attract many people by selling items that appeal and attract many people.
Good points about the logo? The name footlocker is good as soon as the public see it they are informed, similar to an ID card which is what a logo is meant to be. Another thing is the eye catching red and black mixture tempts the audiences eyes to look in its direction.

Bad points about the logo? The logo has the title on it although this is a good thing the name Footlocker would provoke the target audience to think of shoes. Also foot locker sell shoes that is not the only thing they sell clothing also, and and other items, making this a key bad point on the logo.

Does the colour work? The colours catches the eye as red is a bright mysterious colour while black is dull and almost boring these two factors work together and make the logo keep the audiences' attention.

Is it versatile? Yes the logo can be displayed in two ways using the full logo with the name included is one and also with the referee on its own. This ability to be advertised in two ways keeps Footlocker noticed and alive.

A logo

A logo is a statement, a stamp or even name, it is supposed keep the company or person or group recognised and made to be eye catching and unique. Logos can be small or big aslong as they represent itself to the audience well. A logo can be complex or simple but must never be seen as over crowded or dull.

Who is the target audience for the logo/ Is it eefective? Does the logo attract its target audience is it easily spotten, does the logo make the company popular and is memorable or is it boring and dull and easily forgotten. This all separates the good logos from the bad.

How does the logo relate to the company? Does the logo resemble the company, does the logo act as a sign to advertise or to attract people to them, this a key function of a good logo being able to attract its target audience

Good points  and
Bad points  about the logo? Is the logo well designed the its best potential and does it perform and attract people as it should, if the clour is wrong  or the font even the tiniest dtail could make the differenc ebetween a genius logo and a dull plain or even too complex

Does the colour work?  This is very important that the colour combination is perfect and fits the logo well, too much colour can make the logo confusing and unattractive to little can also change the likeliness that the logo will be remembered.

Is it versatile? Can the logo be used in another way does it work in more than one way, this open the chasses of promoting the logo and keeping the logo and the company alive and known.

File:Obama logomark.svg

Which company uses the logo?  Barrack  Obama Presidential Champaign logo

Who is the target audience for the logo? American Voters, the logo targets the adult poluation pf the American people.

How does the logo relate to the company? The logo uses the same colour scheme as the American flag which is global recognised which gave the Obama logo its fame choosing to use the same colours gave it a positive image.

Is it effective?  Yes the American people responded positively to it and now the logo is recognised all over the world as Obamas logo and recognised as a sign of America.

Good points about the logo? The use of colour raises the logos likeable also the shape of the logo has not been used before so it is a great way to catch the audiences attention. The colours used are not only American colours but they are also easily remembered, bright and eye catching.

Bad points about the logo?  Some people who don't know the american flag may have just seen it as a copy of the american flag and may not have realised it was actually a logo for Obama having no clue what it represented may have effected the outcome.

Does the colour work? Yes as i have stated before blue red and white are very eye catching is bright, they would attract a lot of people and be instantly recognised

Is it versatile? The logo is extremely versatile as shown in the pictures below

It was portrayed  in a variety of ways till it not only appealed to the voters during the campaign but also to the rest of America earning this symbol the right to be called an American symbol.

Faceook

Which company uses the logo? Facebook

Who is the target audience for the logo? Facebook targets the only networking audience as they are a networking sight. Targeting a large rage of ages alows Facebook to recruit over 700 million members far out competing rival networking sights.

How does the logo relate to the company? Being a networking site by using the name Facebook the first thing you think of is a phone-book with many contacts and numbers. Facebook instantly tell the audience it is a network sight and is  easily remembered because it is so simple with only two colours.

Is it effective?  Yes the logo is one of the most well known company logos in the world, constantly being mentioned , written about Facebook is hard to forget because of its blue and white colours. Having 800 illion members shows Facebook is very popular and effective.

Good points about the logo? The logo is kept simply and plain this makes the logo easy to be picked out by the public. Also the font is standard making it easily read and keeping it simple and well strutured not making the public think too much and keeping it easy and clean.

Bad points about the logo? The bad points of this logo are that the colour scheme could be seen as dull and plain, then structure seems normal and may fail to interest some people. The fact the the logo is some simply is may be considered empty and finished basically thrown together and rushed.

Does the colour work?  In some ways its doesn't as it does really raise your attention draw you in like  for e.d McDonald's does but it does because of the fact it is so simple and many other logos  are not making it stand out without really standing out and being normal
.

Is it versatile? Not really it is similar to Orange and Nike as it relies on being simple and plain to attract people because of this it is not versatile.

Nike

Which company uses the logo? Nike

Who is the target audience for the logo? The logo targets people that enjoy wearing clothes that are engineered for sport. People who like sporty clothing and who feel they should look good while exercising. Also they target the portion of the public who like to dress casually but fashionably.

How does the logo relate to the company?
The Nike tick is a very large icon in the world of sport, instantly recognised world wide this logo ties straight back to the company.

Is it effective? Yes the logo attracts almost all of the target audience, becoming extremely popular the label makes the public think that when exercising or dressing casually a Nike top, pair of shoes and so on is necessary.

Good points about the logo? The simplicity although can be seen as a flaw it helps the logo become easily recognised by the public, black and white are colours who instantly compliment each other the logo is hard to miss. Using a tick was a genius choice as this shape would not sink into common logos when spotted but would intrigue the audience and keep there attention focused on it.

Bad points about the logo? The logo can also be seen as simple maybe even plain in terms of creativity and colouring. Although the shape that was chosen was unique and different the chose of colours has been copied by other major companies like Umbro and so on making Nike recognisable but also vunrable when it came to competing for the audience's attention.

Does the colour work?. The colours black and white compliment each other although they could be seen as neutral plain boring colours. Although the company insuccesful the logos colouring could have dangerously impacted their chances of being recognised as the public are constantly bombarded will colour this ''Plain white logo'' could have been forgotten, but then again white and black go together so the colour could bring a positive outcome depending on where it is placed.

Is it versatile? Not really as the design relies on simplicity and has stuck with simplicity for a long time. When this chose is taken the promoting options go down as the logo can be recognised as anything else but a tick, so no the logo is not versatile.

MTV

Which company uses the logo? MTV

Who is the target audience for the logo?  People who enjoy watching a range of music genres on TV, also it appeals to people who like music critics and people who like a wider range of Tv genres such as  comedy, reality, documentaries, entertainment and reality dramas.

How does the logo relate to the company? It relates to the company because the logo advertises what the company broadcasts. Another way it relates is it uses simple yet effective wording the logo basically says music television and that is what the company broadcasts and presents to the public therefore it gives the public that sense of trust, this trust is essential to the company as it keep the viewers watching.

Is it effective? Yes because it appeals to their main audience because keeps what their trying to advertise simple, also is a very easily recognised logo.

Good points about the logo? The use of black and white is a good combination in advertising as they compliment each other. This also also keeps the logo simple and clean which helps the public understand what advertiser is trying to promote where as if someone uses flamboyant colour combinations it loses the the public interest and the loses what the advertiser is trying to promote.

Bad points about the logo?  The logo doesn't look as professionally as other entertainment company logos this could drastically reduce views. Another flaw is although the logo is now popular if someone hadn't seen the logo before they may not understand what it represents.

Does the colour work? As i have stated before the use of black and white on the logo is a good idea as it can be eye catching depending on where the logo is located. Black and white are colours that compliment each other catching the audiences eye.

Is it versatile? No because the logo is incredibly simple and it just gets to the point. The does not have a recognisable icon that can be used in its place making it not versatile.

Toys R Us

Which company uses the logo?  Toys R Us

Who is the target audience for the logo? The logo targets adults with children and young children who likes toys.

How does the logo relate to the company? The name of the company represents the Company itself because their retail specialises in toys, however they do sell eletronic games, bikes and outdoor equipment.

Is it effective?  It is effective its built to fulfil its objective which is to promote the things they are trying to sell, its also created to catch the public's eye therefore is it recognisable and memorable because of the choice of words used in the title.

Good points about the logo? One good point as i have stated before is their promoting skills for example the use of colour which is vibrant and eye catching, also the way the R is incorrectly spelled makes the compny memorable

Bad points about the logo? However the logo is flawed because the public could view the store as a toy company and not know that they sell more than just toys, this could result in the loss of sales

Does the colour work? The use of font and bright colours clear shows this logo is made to appeal to children where as if a stronger darker combination of colours were used it would be more likely to be over looked by the target audience.
Using vibrant  colours helps the logo catch children's eye.

Is it versatile? Yes the logo attracts younger children but it also attracts a large range of people as they sell not only toys but bikes and so on. The logo also attracts up and coming parents giving it a range of different kinds of people.

immediately drawing the consumers attention.

Is it effective? The logo is effective because it is simple and basic it draws the attention of the public eye also because the company has used their founder as a logo the logo makes the public feel welcome and draws them towards the company.

Good points about the logo? The logo is simple  using a red background would the consumers eye

Bad points about the logo?  Although the kernel is often used as a symbol of KFC and is very famous some people may not know who he is and may not be able to recognise him therefore may not be drawn to the company.

Does the colour work?  The red works very well, this would draw the customers attention quickly red

Is it versatile? Yes
Kernel Sanders has become a very big icon and in some cases a mascot this allows the advertisers to use his face as a symbol of KFC.

Which company uses the logo? RYANAIR

Who is the target audience for the logo? They target people who want to travel low cost, people who are travelling on business.

How does the logo relate to the company? The logo has a man that looks like he is taking flight. Also the name RYANAIR makes you think flight becuase of the word '' Air''.

Is it effective? Yes containing a hidden message, a man who looks like he is taking flight is a good
advantage as this can be used on its own to advertise the company.

Good points about the logo? The man taking flight definitely would can the passengers eye. The font and the structure of the logo ensure it can be seen from far away, this makes it easier to advertise.

Bad points about the logo? The colours are not really as eye catching as the font or the gold logo. The colour scheme is not very original other airlines such as Thomas cook use blue as a background, this could confuse the passenger.

Does the colour work? Blue and Gold is an excellent combination and go together well but the colours are not bright and are far to similar to other airline logos such as Thomas cook.

Is it versatile? Yes the logo can be used in two ways, the fulll logo can be used with the man taking off and the RYANAIR or the gold man taking off can be used on its own allowing more ways of being recognised.

Which company uses the logo? Mc Donald's

Who is the target audience for the logo? Mc Donald's  target audience is every member of the public. Race, family life, gender, age and so on.. Mc Donald's will target all segments of the public.

How does the logo relate to the company? The logo does an exceptional job of advertising the company using the logo much like Apple, as a logo ad then 'Mc Donald's' beneath it. The big M is used as a symbol to draw the audience in and it yellow colour is an instant reminder on the company name.

Is it effective?  Yes the logo attracts the publics attention using the bright colours, the colours give the feelings of a friendly eating environment everything is neat and tidy. A large portion of the target audience is children this is clear because of the bright colours this would play a big part in bringing the younger population to Mc Donald's.

Good points about the logo? It's a tidy logo very simple with bright colours that attract the public, the M can be used as a symbol which gives i an advantage.

Bad points about the logo? Although my research tells me the logo targets everyone in the public, the logo colours would appeal more to children because of the way they are presented.

Does the colour work?  Yes the bright colours would appeal to many people in the public drawing them to the products. The M being yellow would stand out because it is bright.

Is it versatile? Yes the logo is versatile because the M on its own could be used to resembles the company as well as the whole thing so this makes it able to use two different ways of bringing in the public.

Analysis of Logos

Which company uses this logo? Apple

Who is the target audience for the logo? People who like technology, apple want people who are willing to invest more money for better quality computers, targeting upper and middle class. Apple want people who are interested in technology and people who like taking pictures and experiencing new types of software, people who are looking at going into the media profession. Although i know this, if i didnt have this information i wouldn't be able to say who the target audience was.

How does the logo relate to the company? The name of the company “Apple” and having the logo as a Apple is good because people will always put the logo with the name because it is so simple.

Is it effective? Yes the logo is simple its just an apple and keeping it simple makes it effective, it doesn’t complicate anything, its just an apple.

Good points about the logo?
The simplicity is good it makes the logo stand out wherever you put it. People will recognise the apple with a bite taken out of it.

Bad points about the logo? If didn’t know what Apple was the logo would not give me any insight into the company itself.  The logo being simple is a positive thing and also a negative thing because its only thing in common with the company is the Apple on the logo.

Does the colour work? The colours definitely catch the eye and they logo give you a futuristic feel.
The logo can come in different colours, Black with a white background or Silver and white and a number of different combinations

Is it versatile? The logo stands for many things because of the fame that surrounds it, even being used to represent modern technology. But if the fame was not there the logo wouldn't be as versatile.

This is a good example of how the apple logo has been changed.
The official logo remains black with a white background.
